The Heavens Reached Down

The Heavens Reached Down, originally uploaded by William WM.
I’m a little iffy on this one; it’s not my best quality photo by any means, but it is my first photo of a lightning bolt. I think that makes it worth posting. =)

dPS: 10 Really Useful Flickr Greasemonkey Userscripts
August 18, 2008
All of these are excellent scripts, and many of them are available in the Better Flickr extension from Gina Trapani at Lifehacker, but my favorite by far is the Flickr Follow Comments plugin which makes that atrocity of a page into something sane and manageable.
Flickr, are you listening? The “Comments You’ve Made” page sucks hard. (Otherwise, I love Flickr to death, and everything else is somewhere in the range of pretty good to awesome.)
This post on Useful Flickr Userscripts has been submitted by Martin Gommel. You can see his work at his is a Flickr account and his blog KWERFELDEIN.
Userscripts are add-ons for the Firefox web browser, which dynamically enhance the communication and visualization of certain websites.
To be able to use these scripts you need to have installed greasemonkey on Firefox - this enables and manages the userscripts. If you have greasemonkey in Firefox you can install and use these userscripts instantly.
How-To Geek: Disable AutoScroll in Firefox
August 18, 2008
Thank god someone posted this. I know, it should have been simpler to find, considering the setting is in Tools->Options->Advanced and is literally called “Use Autoscrolling”, but I never made the connection before I found this article.
So you try to middle click on a link on a page and miss the link… then the round “Auto Scroll” icon shows up and suddenly the page is moving around and scrolling all by itself. It drives me crazy, so when it was mentioned in the latest Coding Horror article I figured I would write it up in case anybody else wants to disable it.
Note: You can’t disable the same thing in Internet Explorer as far as I can tell. If anybody knows of a way, let me know.
Photojojo: DIY Flash Diffuser
August 18, 2008
I posted a related link back in March (Pop-up Flash), but I just recently tried it out and found it to be so useful that it was worth reposting:
Harsh, unflattering flash got you down? Grab an old roll of film and make it all better.
Follow Flickr user natuurplaat’s lead, and turn an old film canister into a flash diffuser! A few strategic cuts make it easy to slip the canister onto your pop-up flash, and voila! Soft, beautiful lighting.
Keep reading and we’ll show you how to make your very own little piece of genius.

Lifehacker: Resize Window Bookmarklets
August 18, 2008
Another great tip from Lifehacker.com:
You can quickly change the size of the Firefox window by clicking a bookmarklet. Reader Domen writes in and explains how to set up the bookmarklet, which is perfect for users with extra screen estate. Create an empty bookmark in your Bookmarks Toolbar and enter the following as the location:
javascript:window.resizeTo(1280,1050);
Edit: Well, I was going to be nice and post pre-made bookmarklets for you, but WordPress strips any JavaScript links of their magic.
